Day Care Dilemma - A Solution?

Fun With Your Kids No Comments

I know the day care situation is perilous at best…believe me I know! There are volumes of info written about staying at home vs. going to work as a mother and all the many angles that come into play in trying to make the right decision for all involved.

An article I found recently addresses that dilemma strait-on…well, sort of!

“You scoff now, but it happens to the best of us, believe me. Every parent has that day when he wakes up and realizes the truth: “I am far too busy and important to do the trivial and taxing work of raising my own child.”"

That’s a quick taste of the tone of this article…the rest will have you laughing out loud! I sure was! Check it out here.

The article was written by Heather Havrilesky, who writes the “I Like to Watch” column for Salon.com.

What A Beautiful Baby!

Oh How Precious!

So, how many of you have heard that your little angel is sooooo cute that she should be the next Gerber or GAP baby and you should really consider finding an agent yadda yadda etc.? I hear stories about kids who made lots of money and at the age of 2 or 3 had set up a college fund and saving account. Sound like a plan to you?

What Price Glory?

Do you think it’s worth it to deal with the child labor laws, work permits and trust accounts in addition to taking your baby to auditions, dealing with travel, change of nap schedules, inconsistent meals, working with strangers, all the attention, etc.? Or may be this sounds like fun to you? Does it to your child?…. To be honest with you, I am not sure.

The college fund does sound good, doesn’t it, but everything else seems a headache unless you are willing to pay someone a chunk of money (often as much as a few thousand of dollars) to take care of things for you, a chunk which of course you have to lay out of your pocket first, without any certainty it will pay back… by the way. It is a tough industry, no question about it. However, I found something else I would like to share with other Moms.

Low Risk - High Reward…Maybe!

TheCuteKid.com is a site worth looking into. It actually is fun, pretty easy to use and…here’s something I really like…it allows you to share the pictures and videos you upload with family and friends on a Family Blog called MyCuteKid Site (about to launch) where you can chat with your little darlings fans around the world too!

Best of all, you can submit some pictures which have a chance to be noticed by the right talent agents. This is the paid part of the site. You can upload as many pictures to the site as you want for free, and those are occasionally browsed by the talent agents who also judge… the cute kid contest. That’s the main draw!

TheCuteKid.com runs a contest with the Grand Prize of $25,000 college tuition and monthly prizes of $500 and $200 US saving bonds and $100 AmEx gift cards. These contests are scored by Entertainment Industry Professionals, top Talent Scouts, and Casting Agents. Anybody who thinks they have captured a special moment may enter the contest. A small charge involved covers the operational fee and comes with one year of free subscription to Parenting Magazine. It is fun, exciting and there is a chance you will achieve your goals (boy, this college fund!). So, go ahead, check it out and have some fun!

I’ve submitted several pics to the free part of the site and one to the contest…I’ll keep you posted of course! And when the Family Blog site is up and running of course I’ll link to it here so you can see how that works too.
